Open Access: What Is It and What Does It Mean To Me and My Business?

ApolloMedia President, Clinton Fein spoke at a Panel Discussion Wednesday, December 1, produced by the San Francisco Small Business Network and moderated by Sandy Sohcot. He presented an overview of the complexity of the issue; Liza Lowery, Director of the San Francisco Department of Telecommunications and Information Services presented the DTIS perspective. Dan Jacobsen, Executive Director, Pacific Bell, Regulatory and Milo Medin, Chief Technology Officer for Excite/@Home (AT&T) presented their respective viewpoints.

In light of intense media scrutiny; the political, financial and policy implications surrounding this issue locally and nationally - it is quite a cutting-edge topic. This is what he had to say!

ApolloMedia vs. Reno Supreme Court Appeal

ApolloMedia President, Clinton Fein writes that the federal court decision in ApolloMedia vs. Reno was "only a partial victory" for annoy.com. "Rather than strike down the provision as unconstitutional by issuing a permanent injunction against its enforcement," Fein writes, "the court instead chose to narrowly interpret a long string of words -- "obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy or indecent" to simply mean "obscene" only." He says that the ruling "inadequately addressed" the issues raised by ApolloMedia's initial challenge. Fein says the decision to appeal was motivated by "a right, if not duty, to demand that constitutionally precarious legislation be clearly defined."
